The Rigger is responsible for setting up, assembling, and securing rigging equipment used to lift, move, and position heavy materials and machinery safely and efficiently. This position requires skill in using cranes, hoists, pulleys, slings, and other lifting devices, as well as a strong understanding of load calculations, safety procedures, and communication protocols. The Rigger works closely with crane operators, foremen, and other crew members to ensure all lifting operations are performed safely and in accordance with company and industry standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assemble and install rigging equipment such as cables, ropes, pulleys, hooks, and shackles for lifting operations
Inspect rigging gear, lifting devices, and hardware to ensure they are in good condition and meet safety standards
Determine the safest and most efficient method for lifting and moving heavy objects
Signal and direct crane operators during lifting and hoisting activities using standard hand or radio signals
Secure loads properly and ensure balance, stability, and control during lifting or transport
Read and interpret load charts, lifting plans, and technical drawings to determine load weights and center of gravity
Assist in assembling, disassembling, and positioning heavy equipment and structures
Maintain records of rigging inspections, equipment usage, and lifting operations
Report defective equipment, unsafe conditions, or near-miss incidents immediately to the supervisor
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company procedures
Support other team members in mechanical or construction activities when required
