Job Description

The Helper assists skilled tradespeople such as mechanics, pipe fitters, and technicians in performing maintenance, repair, and installation tasks. This position involves preparing materials, handling tools, cleaning work areas, and supporting general operations to ensure efficiency and safety at the job site. The Helper plays an essential role in maintaining workflow, learning trade skills, and contributing to a safe and productive working environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist mechanics, pipe fitters, and other skilled workers in daily maintenance and repair activities

Prepare tools, materials, and equipment needed for specific tasks

Clean and organize work areas, machinery, and tools after completion of work

Transport and position materials, components, and tools to designated work areas

Hold or position parts for fitting, assembly, or welding operations under supervision

Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment at all times

Perform basic mechanical tasks such as tightening bolts, cleaning components, and applying lubricants

Support the setup and dismantling of equipment or temporary structures as required

Report unsafe conditions, damaged tools, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor

Assist in maintaining inventory and reporting material shortages or needs

Learn and develop trade skills by observing and assisting experienced workers

Requirements
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION: BASIC SECONDARY EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT; TECHNICAL OR VOCATIONAL TRAINING IS AN ADVANTAGE
  • EXPERIENCE: 1 TO 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN AN INDUSTRIAL, CONSTRUCTION, OR MAINTENANCE ENVIRONMENT IS PREFERRED
  • TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF HAND TOOLS, POWER TOOLS, AND INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT
  • SAFETY AWARENESS: STRONG COMMITMENT TO FOLLOWING SAFETY PROCEDURES AND WEARING PROPER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ABILITY TO PERFORM MANUAL LABOR, INCLUDING LIFTING, CARRYING, BENDING, AND WORKING IN VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTS
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS: ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW VERBAL AND WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS
  • TEAMWORK: WILLINGNESS TO WORK UNDER SUPERVISION AND COOPERATE WITH OTHER CREW MEMBERS
  • WORK ETHIC: RELIABLE, PUNCTUAL, AND MOTIVATED TO LEARN AND DEVELOP SKILLS WITHIN THE TRADE
