Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer (Design) is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems, components, and equipment used in industrial, construction, or manufacturing projects. This position involves preparing technical drawings, conducting engineering calculations, performing design reviews, and ensuring that all mechanical designs meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards. The Mechanical Engineer (Design) works closely with project managers, other engineers, and clients to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality engineering solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and develop mechanical systems, equipment, and components according to project specifications and standards
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D models, assembly drawings, and layouts using CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor)
Perform engineering calculations for stress analysis, fluid flow, thermodynamics, and material selection
Review and interpret project requirements, specifications, and client needs to produce accurate design solutions
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure system compatibility and integration
Conduct design reviews to verify technical accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with standards
Prepare bills of materials (BOMs), cost estimates, and technical documentation for procurement and fabrication
Support construction and installation teams with design clarification, as-built documentation, and technical guidance
Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing mechanical designs for performance, reliability, and efficiency
Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards
Participate in quality assurance and testing activities related to prototype development or system commissioning
Provide technical support during project execution, fabrication, and site inspections

Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION: BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING OR RELATED FIELD
EXPERIENCE: MINIMUM OF 3 TO 5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN MECHANICAL DESIGN, ENGINEERING, OR DRAFTING
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, THERMODYNAMICS, FLUID MECHANICS, AND MATERIAL SCIENCE
SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY: EXPERTISE IN CAD SOFTWARE SUCH AS AUTOCAD, SOLIDWORKS, INVENTOR, OR SIMILAR DESIGN TOOLS
STANDARDS & CODES: FAMILIARITY WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS SUCH AS ASME, API, ISO, OR ASTM
ANALYTICAL SKILLS: ABILITY TO PERFORM ENGINEERING CALCULATIONS AND ANALYZE DESIGN PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: STRONG WRITTEN AND VERBAL COMMUNICATION; ABILITY TO PREPARE TECHNICAL REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS
TEAMWORK: ABILITY TO WORK EFFECTIVELY WITH MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAMS AND SUPPORT FIELD OR PROJECT ENGINEERS
