Junior Reservoir Engineer
TotalEnergies
Job Description
Comply with the Company’s and Subsidiary HSEQ principles.
Support the construction, quality control and maintenance of the Reservoir Engineering database (T-More), ensuring that key reservoir, well and production data are structured, traceable and readily usable by the team.
Develop and update reservoir monitoring dashboards, including data preparation, visualization, basic analytics and routine reporting for reservoir engineering reviews.
Prepare first-pass Reservoir Engineering synthesis, including plots, checks and technical material supporting data interpretation, consistency review and well performance analysis.
Support well delivery and reservoir engineering operations:
Follow drilling operations and completion design studies, prepare clear technical summaries and identify points requiring reservoir engineering input or decision.
Support the monitoring of well clean-ups, injectivity tests & data acquisition during the drilling campaign and start-up to the FPSO.
Prepare and quality-check acquired reservoir data, including pressure transient analysis inputs, tracer sampling analysis and PVT sampling follow-up, for technical review and integration.
Contribute to 2G&R synthesis following well delivery by preparing inputs, checks, comparison plots and documentation to support integrated interpretation and model update workflows.
Assist in the preparation of the yearly Plan of Reservoir Monitoring (PREMONIT), the Reservoir Management Plan and their updates, including compilation of supporting data and technical notes.
Prepare material supporting reservoir management and production optimisation discussions, ensuring clear traceability of inputs, assumptions and key observations.
Contribute to reservoir and well monitoring after First Oil:
Perform first-pass analyses of pressure build-up (PBU) and down-hole gauge (DHG) data to help interpret well performance trends and follow the evolution of well productivity & injectivity.
Help monitor reservoir and well performance across the development perimeter through routine data checks, plots and dashboard updates.
Escalate anomalies or performance drifts and prepare diagnostic material for discussion with senior reservoir engineers, Well Performance and Field Operations teams.
Requirements
Education: MSc, Engineering degree or equivalent in Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, Applied Mathematics or a related engineering discipline.
Professional experience:
0–3 years’ relevant experience in reservoir engineering, petroleum engineering, field development, production data analysis or subsurface studies; internships, apprenticeships or academic projects may be considered as relevant experience.
Exposure to subsurface data and/or knowledge management involving geology, geophysics, petrophysics and reservoir engineering would be appreciated.
Technical Competences:
Good understanding of reservoir engineering principles, including material balance, reservoir simulation concepts, pressure behaviour, production mechanisms and reservoir monitoring.
Good analytical skills and ability to manipulate, quality-check and visualize technical data using Excel and/or scripting tools such as Python.
Working knowledge of reservoir engineering workflows such as production monitoring, pressure analysis, reservoir simulation inputs, well performance and uncertainty tracking.
Interest in integrated 2G&R workflows and willingness to develop practical understanding of geophysical, geological and reservoir engineering data integration.
Soft skills:
Curious, rigorous and willing to learn in a multidisciplinary and operational project environment.
Able to work constructively with geoscience, reservoir engineering, well performance and operations teams, while seeking guidance when needed.
Structured, reliable and attentive to data quality, traceability and documentation.
Good communication skills, team spirit, adaptability and openness to working in a multicultural environment.
Languages: fluent English, written and spoken, required. French and/or Dutch would be valuable assets.
