The 6G Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding on pipes and structural components using various welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, and MIG in the 6G position (fixed pipe at a 45-degree angle). This position requires exceptional technical skill, precision, and adherence to welding codes and safety standards. The 6G Welder ensures all welds meet project specifications, quality requirements, and inspection standards in industrial, construction, or plant environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy pipes in the 6G position using approved welding procedures Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols to determine the layout and specifications of weld joints Prepare materials by cleaning, beveling, and aligning pipes before welding Set up and operate welding equipment, selecting appropriate electrodes, filler materials, and settings for each job Inspect welds visually and with gauges to ensure compliance with standards and specifications Conduct repair welding as required, ensuring proper joint penetration and weld quality Perform weld tests and prepare joints for inspection, including radiographic or ultrasonic testing Maintain welding equipment, tools, and consumables in good working condition Follow all company safety policies and use proper protective gear at all times Coordinate with supervisors, fitters, and quality control inspectors to ensure welding is completed accurately and on schedule Maintain detailed records of completed work, weld maps, and material traceability
