Job Description
The Pipe Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems used in industrial, mechanical, and construction environments. This position requires technical skill in reading blueprints and working with various pipe materials, fittings, and tools. The Pipe Fitter ensures all piping work is completed according to specifications, safety standards, and project timelines, under the supervision of a Foreman or Senior Pipe Fitter.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required specifications using hand and power tools
Assemble and install pipes, fittings, and valves for systems carrying water, steam, air, oil, or other fluids
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and isometric sketches to determine the layout of piping systems
Inspect, test, and maintain piping systems to detect leaks or other issues
Fit and secure pipes by welding, bolting, or cementing joints
Assist in hydrostatic or pneumatic testing to ensure system integrity
Work closely with welders, foremen, and other trades to ensure accurate and efficient project execution
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and ensure all tools and equipment are properly used and stored
Follow all company and industry safety standards and use required personal protective equipment
Report any equipment defects, safety concerns, or material shortages to the supervisor

Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION: TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE OR VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN PIPE FITTING OR MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE
EXPERIENCE: MINIMUM OF 3 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN INDUSTRIAL OR CONSTRUCTION PIPE FITTING WORK
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: UNDERSTANDING OF PIPE MATERIALS, JOINT TYPES, AND PIPING SYSTEM COMPONENTS
BLUEPRINT READING: ABILITY TO READ AND INTERPRET DRAWINGS, ISOMETRICS, AND P&IDs
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT: SKILLED IN USING PIPE THREADERS, CUTTERS, TORCHES, AND MEASURING INSTRUMENTS
SAFETY AWARENESS: STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF SAFETY PROCEDURES, PERMIT SYSTEMS, AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ABILITY TO WORK IN CONFINED SPACES, AT HEIGHTS, AND UNDER INDUSTRIAL CONDITIONS
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: ABILITY TO WORK EFFECTIVELY IN A TEAM AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM SUPERVISORS
