Job Description
The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling machinery, vehicles, and mechanical equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation. This position requires strong technical knowledge, diagnostic ability, and hands-on skill with tools and machinery. The Mechanic works under limited supervision, performing routine and complex mechanical tasks safely and efficiently, while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on mechanical systems, engines, vehicles, and industrial equipment
Diagnose mechanical faults using testing equipment and technical manuals
Dismantle, repair, and reassemble engines, transmissions, pumps, and other components
Conduct preventive maintenance according to schedules and manufacturer recommendations
Inspect and test repaired machinery to verify proper operation and compliance with standards
Maintain accurate service records, reports, and maintenance logs
Ensure availability and proper use of tools, parts, and consumables
Assist in identifying parts and materials required for repair or replacement
Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies during maintenance activities
Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and proposing technical solutions
Collaborate with supervisors, foremen, and other team members to coordinate maintenance tasks efficiently
Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION: TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE OR DIPLOMA IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY, OR INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE
EXPERIENCE: AT LEAST 3 TO 5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A MECHANIC IN AN INDUSTRIAL, AUTOMOTIVE, OR HEAVY EQUIPMENT ENVIRONMENT
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, HYDRAULICS, PNEUMATICS, AND ENGINES
DIAGNOSTIC ABILITY: PROFICIENCY IN TROUBLESHOOTING AND USING TESTING AND MEASURING EQUIPMENT
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT: SKILLED IN THE SAFE USE OF HAND AND POWER TOOLS, LIFTS, AND SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT
SAFETY AWARENESS: FULL COMPLIANCE WITH SAFETY REGULATIONS, LOCKOUT/TAGOUT, AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: ABILITY TO READ AND INTERPRET TECHNICAL MANUALS, DRAWINGS, AND INSTRUCTIONS; GOOD VERBAL COMMUNICATION WITH TEAM MEMBERS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ABILITY TO WORK IN INDUSTRIAL OR FIELD CONDITIONS, INCLUDING LIFTING HEAVY PARTS AND WORKING IN TIGHT SPACES
