Lifting Gear Inspector

Job Description
Carries out inspection, examination, and certification of lifting gear and lifting equipment including slings, shackles, chain blocks, hoists, lifting beams, pad eyes, spreader bars, wire ropes, forklifts, man baskets, CCUs, and cranes according to international standards such as LOLER, ISO 4309, ASME B30 series, and client-specific requirements. Performs visual and dimensional inspections, load tests, NDT on welded lifting points, and issues detailed inspection reports and certificates. Ensures equipment safety, identifies defects, and recommends repairs or removals from service. Follows EXSOL and client QHSE procedures and contributes actively to safe lifting operations.
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as lifting gear inspector
• Competency or certification under: LEEA / North Sea Lifting / ASME B30-recognized training
• Knowledge of LOLER, ISO 9927, ISO 4309, ASME B30, and local lifting regulations
• Ability to inspect: wire ropes, hooks, slings, shackles, hoists, pad eyes, lifting frames, CCUs
• Ability to perform NDT (MT/PT) on lifting points is an asset
• Strong report writing and computer skills
• Ability to identify wear, deformation, cracks, corrosion, misuse, and mechanical defects
• Physically fit to handle loads, equipment, and yard/site conditions
• Strong communication and safety awareness
