CNC Lathe Machinist (OCTG Machining)

Job Description

As a CNC Lathe Machinist, you will machine, repair, and recondition OCTG connections in accordance with applicable API specifications, customer requirements, and OTS procedures. You will set up and operate CNC lathes, verify dimensions and thread quality, maintain documentation, and support continuous improvement in the workshop. Key Requirements : Set up, program (or edit OTS programs), and operate CNC lathes for tubular machining and thread work. Perform precision machining and repairs on tubulars and components (thread recuts, refacing, cleanup cuts or other repairs as applicable). Read and work from drawings, specs, and procedures; select correct tooling, inserts, speeds etc. Verify quality using gauges and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, indicators, etc.) to ensure parts meet acceptance criteria. Document work performed: job sheets, measurements, tooling used, and any non-conformances or recommendations. Maintain machine condition: daily checks, coolant/lube monitoring, tool offsets, basic troubleshooting, and housekeeping. Follow QHSE rules at all times.

Requirements

5+ years experience operating CNC lathes (preferably pipe/tubular machining). Strong understanding of machining fundamentals: setups, offsets, tool wear, surface finish, tolerances, and measurement practices. Ability to interpret technical drawings/specs and execute consistent, repeatable machining work. Comfortable working in an industrial yard/workshop environment; physically fit and safety-minded. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
